1.Nirvana - BeansIrritating lyrics, a guitar sound like a rubber band, and what sounds like guest vocals from the backwards-talking dwarf from 'Twin Peaks'. If you've ever listened to this 'With The Lights Out' track more than once, you're demented.

2.Manic Street Preachers – Let Robeson SingGreat subject for a song, but there's a gloopy, toadying quality to the lyrics ("A voice so pure, a vision so clear") that makes this sound more like a David Cameron speech than a rousing tribute to a political radical. And that plinky guitar intro? Ugh.

3.U2 – Party Girl"Our silly song", admitted Bono. So why include it on the otherwise ultra-earnest 'Under A Blood Red Sky'? Fast-forward to 1.20 for a guitar 'solo' that's laughably poor even by The Edge's standards.

4.Oasis – Roll With ItOasis would surely have won their chart battle with Blur if only they'd released anything else off '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' other than this one-note pub-rock dirge.

5.The Beatles – Maxwell's Silver HammerA song so extravagantly awful even Ringo Starr, a man not known for his cast-iron quality control, labelled it, "The worst track we ever had to record. It went on for fucking weeks. I thought it was mad."

6.Radiohead – Lewis (Mistreated)For this pre-'The Bends' B-side Thom Yorke traded in his mellifluous falsetto for a ugly, cheerless sneer, while a shapeless non-song collapsed around him. Astonishingly bad.
